To whoever is reading this, I hope that you are healthy and safe during this pandemic. If you have been ill or have witnessed someone you love suffer because of this virus, my thoughts and prayers are with you. If you continue to work to provide essential service, I give my deepest THANK YOU to you. If you've lost your job or you've had to work less, I hope you're hanging in there and that you're able to tap into the resources put out by the government. If you're able to work from home, I hope you're handling it well and still get to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air once in a while.
I find myself in the "working less" boat. My employer owns two pharmacies and I had been working at both locations. However, starting this week we've decided that it's best if I only work at one pharmacy until this is all over to minimize possible transmission of the virus between the two pharmacies. This will result in a significant pay cut as my hours will be reduced by at least 33%. I will have to adjust my budget accordingly, but it's okay. Life is more than just about the money. I understand that this is a safety measure for our staff, our patients and the greater community. Not sure how long this will last but I'm looking forward to make use of this extra time to do things that I never had time nor the energy to do in the past.
Hence, the birth of this blog.
Basically, I want to increase my own financial literacy as I navigate my way out of student debt and plan for retirement. You're more than welcome to follow me along this journey as I plan to share my thoughts and experiences with anything related to finance in future posts.
Stay healthy and safe!
